Notice: Dragon Boat Festival Holiday Schedule
Dear All,
We are pleased to inform you that our company will be observing the Dragon Boat Festival holiday from June 8th to June 10th. During this period, our office will be closed, and normal business operations will resume on June 11th.
Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is a traditional Chinese holiday that commemorates the life and death of the famous Chinese scholar Qu Yuan. The festival is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar. During this festival, various customs and traditions are observed, including dragon boat racing, eating zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), and hanging up icons of Zhong Kui, a mythic guardian figure.
Dragon boat racing is the most exciting part of the festival. Teams of paddlers, drummers, and steersmen compete in long, narrow boats decorated to resemble dragons. The races are not only a test of strength and speed but also of teamwork and harmony. The rhythmic drumming and the synchronized paddling create a mesmerizing spectacle that draws crowds of spectators.
Eating zongzi is another cherished tradition. These pyramid-shaped glutinous rice dumplings are wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves and typically filled with ingredients such as red bean paste, dates, chestnuts, and salted duck egg yolk. The custom of eating zongzi is believed to honor Qu Yuan, who, according to legend, drowned himself in the Miluo River to protest against corruption. The local people, in an attempt to save him or at least retrieve his body, paddled out on boats and threw rice into the river to distract the fish.
Hanging up icons of Zhong Kui is another practice aimed at warding off evil spirits and bringing good fortune. Zhong Kui is a mythic figure known as the vanquisher of ghosts and evil beings. People hang his image on their doors and windows to protect their homes and families.
During the holiday, our team will be spending time with their families, participating in these traditional activities, and enjoying the festive atmosphere. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.
