Dragon Boat Festival Holiday Notice !
Dear Valued Customers and Partners,
We are excited to inform you that FANTY Machinery will be observing the Dragon Boat Festival holiday from June 8th to June 10th, 2024. During this time, our office will be closed, and normal business operations will resume on June 11th.
The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is a traditional Chinese holiday that honors the life and death of the esteemed scholar Qu Yuan. Celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month in the lunar calendar, this festival is marked by various customs, including thrilling dragon boat races, the preparation and enjoyment of zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), and the display of Zhong Kui icons, which are believed to ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune.
One of the highlights of the festival is dragon boat racing, where teams of paddlers, drummers, and steersmen compete in beautifully decorated boats. These races symbolize not only physical strength but also teamwork and unity. The synchronization of the paddlers and the rhythmic drumming create a dynamic spectacle that captivates spectators.
Another cherished tradition is eating zongzi, which are pyramid-shaped rice dumplings filled with a variety of ingredients such as red bean paste, chestnuts, and salted duck egg yolk. According to legend, the practice began as a tribute to Qu Yuan, who drowned himself in the Miluo River in protest of political corruption. Locals paddled out to the river to search for his body, tossing rice into the water to prevent the fish from consuming him.
Lastly, many people hang up Zhong Kui images to protect their homes and families. As the legendary vanquisher of evil spirits, Zhong Kui is believed to bring good luck and ward off malevolent forces.
