Distinguishing Mechanical and Pneumatic NC Servo Feeders

May 17,2018
NC Servo Feeder is versatile, high-precision, stable, and efficient press feeder widely used in conjunction with various processing equipment, including punch presses, shearing machines, hydraulic presses, and forming machines. This feeder machine is categorized into two major types based on their feeding mechanisms: Mechanical roll feeder and Pneumatic NC Servo Feeder. While both employ the same CNC control system (comprising Mitsubishi PLC and Mitsubishi servo motors with drivers), they differ significantly in their feeding mechanisms, overall structures, and applications.
1. Structural and Operational Differences Between Mechanical and Pneumatic NC Servo Feeders:
Mechanical NC Servo Feeders employ a mechanical relaxing rod mechanism to execute feeding. This mechanism entails the use of a relaxing rod that presses against a support bracket installed on the press slide block, thus facilitating the relaxing action. In contrast, Pneumatic NC Servo Feeders utilize an air cylinder piston for feeding, a process that necessitates the press cam to emit a signal to an electromagnetic valve, which, in turn, controls the cylinder's movement.

2. Advantages and Characteristics
The distinct structural and operational disparities translate into unique advantages and applications for each type. Mechanical NC Servo Feeders, with their mechanical relaxing mechanism, offer the benefits of straightforward adjustment, rapid relaxation, and resilience to external factors. They are particularly well-suited for use with traditional punch presses and high-speed short-stroke feeding operations. However, their installation is typically limited, making them primarily compatible with punch presses.

On the other hand, Pneumatic NC Servo Feeders, which utilize cylinders and electromagnetic valves for relaxing, enjoy a broader application spectrum. They can be installed on various processing equipment, including punch presses, shearing machines, hydraulic presses, and forming machines. Nonetheless, their relaxation stability and ease of adjustment are not as pronounced as those in mechanical feeders, making them susceptible to external interference. Therefore, they are not ideal for high-speed stamping and feeding applications
In light of these differences, FANTY Machinery strongly recommends that customers thoroughly understand the distinctions between these two NC Servo Feeder types before making a selection. By doing so, you can align your choice with your specific production needs, ensuring that the selected machine complements and caters to your unique requirements.

At FANTY, we remain committed to providing our clients with a comprehensive understanding of equipment choices and the industry's latest advancements, enabling them to make informed decisions for optimized production efficiency.
